This cake is a wonderful mixture between vanilla, chocolate, fruits and blancmange - I dare you to try it! It is absolutely delicious and within a day, 90% of it was gone in my house ;)
Ingredients for a 30x25 cm tin
200 g of butter
200 g of sugar
2 eggs
400 g of flour
10 g of baking powder
200 ml of milk
cocoa powder
vanilla flavouring or sugar
1 glass of morello cherries
1 packet of cream or vanilla flavour blancmange
450 ml of milk
250 g of milk chocolate
2 tablespoons of nutella
Mix the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add one egg at a time, whisking in well. Mix the flour and baking powder and combine about half of it with the butter-sugar-egg batter. Add the milk to the batter (about half of it) and mix it in. Add the rest of the flour and continue whisking. Lastly, add the rest of the milk. Divide the batter in half and add about 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder to one, mixing in nicely. Add the vanilla sugar or flavouring or essence, which ever you have, to the other half. Grease your tin and layer the vanilla half at the bottom. Carefully cover it with the chocolate layer, try not to stir them through too much. Place the cherries on top and bake in a preheated oven at a 180° C for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
In the meantime, prepare the blancmange as suggested on the packaging and set aside. Melt the chocolate over a water bath and mix in the nutella to make it glossy.
Once the cake has cooled a little, add the blancmange and let it set.
Then carefully pour the chocolate on top, spreading it out. Then take a fork and "draw" waves into the chocolate, trying not to touch the other parts (not managed too well here).
And you're done! Enjoy :)
